I am a cultural manager, film festival director and researcher specializing in the use of cinema as a tool for education, intercultural dialogue and international cooperation.
For more than twenty years, I have designed, directed and supported film festivals, cultural initiatives and training programs across Europe, Africa, the Americas and the Caribbean. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with public institutions, universities, cultural organizations and international partners to create meaningful opportunities for exchange through film.
What inspires me most is cinema’s ability to connect people, ideas and cultures. Beyond entertainment, I see film as a powerful vehicle for learning, critical reflection and mutual understanding. My work focuses on creating spaces where audiences, artists and institutions can engage with diverse perspectives and explore the social, cultural and political realities that shape our world.
Over the years, I have contributed to the development of a wide range of film festivals and cultural projects, including the Puerto Rico European Film Festival, the Tarifa-Tangier African Film Festival (FCAT) and the Slum Film Festival in Kenya. Through these and other initiatives, I have explored how film events can foster international collaboration, support cultural diplomacy and contribute to social and educational development.
Alongside my work as a cultural practitioner, I have developed a research career focused on film festivals, African cinemas and the relationship between cinema, culture and society. I regularly participate as a speaker, moderator, curator, jury member and advisor in cultural and academic events, bringing together practical and scholarly perspectives on the role of cinema in contemporary societies.
Born in Italy, raised in Spain and based in Puerto Rico, I work at the intersection of culture, education and international cooperation, building connections between institutions, professionals and audiences through the transformative power of cinema.
I hold a BA in Journalism from the University of Seville (Spain), an MA in Global Media and Post-national Communication from SOAS, University of London (UK), and a PhD in Cultural Studies from the Pablo de Olavide University in Seville (Spain).
